“Santi Elijah Holley has been a journalist, essayist, critic and biographer for over ten years. His work explores the intersection of art, culture, race, and politics, and he has contributed to such national and international outlets as The Guardian, The Atlantic, The New Republic, The Economist, The Washington Post, and Time.” His latest book, An Amerikan Family: The Shakurs and the Nation They Created, was published on May 23, 2023 by Mariner Books, an imprint of HarperCollins. I was able to get a copy of the book that very day and interview Santi on Thursday, May 25, 3023, for my show on KPFK 90.7 FM in Los Angeles. We also mention Sekou Odinga, who made his transition on January 12, 2024, in this interview.
